Evidence: Social Stories (Carol Gray, 1991) are a well-established practice for autistic learners: they describe a situation, skill or concept in the first person, positively and with concrete detail, reducing anxiety and clarifying expectations. Most effective when paired with visual supports and read before the situation occurs (Gray, 2010).
