Active breaks.
2-5 minute motor breaks for the classroom. Based on TAKE 10! (Mahar et al., 2006).
Evidence: Active classroom breaks improve attention, on-task behaviour and academic performance (Mahar et al., 2006 — TAKE 10!). Physical activity breaks of 5-20 minutes improve executive function in children with ADHD (Pontifex et al., 2013). Calm-down activities reduce cortisol and improve emotional regulation (Donnelly & Lambourne, 2011).
